Penultimate 'Idol' Gives Tuesday to FOX

The final performance special of FOX's "American Idol" helped push the network to a big Tuesday night win, but the wildly popular talent show has finally seen its ratings dip below the standards set during this stage of the competition last year.

Overall, FOX averaged an 11.3 rating/18 share for a wide margin of victory over CBS' 7.4/12. ABC was third with a 6.2/10, leaving NBC in fourth at 5.2/8. The netlets pulled in tiny numbers with The WB averaging a 1.7/3 and UPN taking a 1.5/3.

At 8 p.m., "American Idol" gave FOX a 14.5/24, topping the 7.4/12 for CBS' "Navy NCIS." ABC was third with "Extreme Bloopers," beating the 3.9/7 for NBC's "Outrageous Game Show Moments." On UPN, two episodes of "One on One" averaged a 1.8/3, better than an "Angel" repeat on The WB.

FOX stayed in front at 9 p.m. as "24" had an 8.0/13 despite a dramatic drop of two full ratings points in its second half. CBS got a 7.4/12 out of the first half of the second part of the telefilm "Reversible Errors." Two episodes of "According to Jim" averaged a 6.3/10 for ABC, while NBC was fourth with the 6.2/10 for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." The WB's "Superstar USA" did a 2.0/3, superior to the totals for two episodes of "Rock Me Baby" on UPN.

ABC closed the night with a slim victory for "Super Millionaire," which had the same 7.5/12 as CBS' movie, but drew a slightly higher number of total viewers. NBC trailed with "Dateline."

CBS and NBC Once Again Split May Sweeps

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- For the second year in a row, CBS and NBC split top honors during the final month of the 2003-04 season. The Eye snagged the top spot in both households and total viewers while the Peacock earned wins in the key adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 demographics. Both networks also remained on par with their May 2003 sweeps results.

As for the rest of the networks, both UPN and the WB saw the biggest drops in year-to-year comparisons with each down more than 20% in said demographics while ABC and FOX saw modest drops in the 8-13% range.

Here's a complete breakdown of this year's May sweeps results (4/29/04-5/26/04), as well as comparisons to the last May sweeps period (4/24/03-5/21/03):

Mag natürlich auch daran liegen das viele Seasons schon durch waren letzte Woche. Aber die Zahl gefällt mir.

Ist irendwann mal mit einer Aufstellung der Einschaltquoten der Season3 zu rechnen ?

Speziell bei den ersten beiden Staffeln waren die entsprechenden Diagramme sehr aufschlußreich.

Meine Quellen für US Ratings sind leider versiegt. Von daher habe ich nur sehr löchrige Angaben, wenn 24 mal in die Top 25 reingerutscht ist. Von daher wird es wohl von mir in Zukunft keine Tabellen und Diagramme mehr geben.

Auf Quotenmeter.de wurden "Die 50 erfolgreichsten US-Formate 2003/2004" aufgelistet.

24 ist auf Platz 46 gelandet mit einer Durchschnitts-Quote von 10,299.

Bei der Top 20 von Fox liegt 24 auf Platz 9.
